Online Shopping Day / Harbolnas vs Cyber Monday
| Name | Typical date | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| National Online Shopping Day / Harbolnas | Live: Dec 2 (this site); Indonesia commercial promo | This page - Lazada-linked 2012 roots |
| Cyber Monday | Mon after Thanksgiving (2026 = Nov 30) | U.S. NRF 2005 - different |
| Black Friday | Fri after Thanksgiving (2026 = Nov 27) | Neighbor only |
| Giving Tuesday / World AIDS Day | Dec 1, 2026 | Day before live listing - label only |
| Federal holiday? | No | Commercial / informal observance |
Cyber Monday is the required contrast. Black Friday is a Thanksgiving-week neighbor only. Giving Tuesday sits on December 1 as a labeled neighbor. National Shopping Day is a separate informal shopping nickname. Date hub: December 2 hub. Month hub: December national days.
A short, defendable timeline
Lazada Indonesia / partners, 2012. Harbolnas (Hari Belanja Online Nasional) began as a year-end Indonesia e-commerce promotion linked to Lazada Indonesia and partners in 2012. That is commercial promo history - not an official holiday and not a U.S. statute. Harbolnas messaging in Indonesia has grown beyond a single retailer into a broader year-end e-commerce promotion culture.
English alias vs local name. National Online Shopping Day is the English label commonly mapped to Harbolnas on international calendars. Own the Indonesia/commercial framing; do not invent an American Online Shopping Day act of Congress. The live December 2 fixed listing is site calendar convenience - do not invent a U.S. statutory date rule.
Hard separation from Cyber Monday. Cyber Monday is the U.S. Monday after Thanksgiving (November 30, 2026), coined by the NRF in 2005. Different date, different origin - do not merge. U.S. readers who arrived expecting Cyber Monday should be redirected clearly: Cyber Monday 2026 is Monday, November 30. This page invents no American doorbuster list and no promo codes.
