This is the US kickoff for holiday retail: stores open early, sites run timed discounts, and a lot of “doorbusters” are limited quantity. It is not automatically the cheapest day of the year on every item. Treat it as a planning day with a list, not a scavenger hunt.

Black Friday is always the Friday after Thanksgiving. In 2026 that is November 27.

Many chains now stretch “Black Friday” across the whole week, and some online prices appear on Thanksgiving night. If you only care about one in-store trip, Friday morning is still the crowded one. If you only care about a laptop, headphones, or a TV, compare the Thursday night listing with Friday and with Cyber Monday before you buy.
