National Free Shipping Day 2026
National Free Shipping Day is an informal U.S. shopping observance that grew from a 2008 FreeShipping.org / Coupon Sherpa promotion by Luke and Maisie Knowles. Calendars often list it around mid-December (commonly December 14). In 2026 the live site may show Monday, December 14, but the coordinating site wound down years ago - retailers set their own free-shipping windows. Prefer rule language (“mid-December; check retailers live”) over freezing any single CMS civil date as gospel. Check offers live; this page does not invent deals. It is not a federal holiday.

Floating mid-December window vs Green Monday, Super Saturday, and Cyber Monday
| Name | Typical date | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| National Free Shipping Day | Mid-Dec floating / often listed Dec 14 | This page - retailer-set windows |
| Green Monday | 2nd Monday in Dec (2026 = Dec 14) | Same-week online shopping neighbor - different brand |
| Super Saturday | Last Sat before Christmas (2026 = Dec 19) | In-store last-push day |
| Cyber Monday | Mon after Thanksgiving | Earlier season |
| Federal holiday? | No | Informal retail promo day |
Green Monday, Super Saturday, and Cyber Monday are season neighbors only - do not merge brands. December 14 hub is a traditional-listing neighbor, not a statute. Month: December national days. Christmas 2026 is Friday, December 25.
A short, defendable timeline
2008 launch. Luke and Maisie Knowles promoted Free Shipping Day through FreeShipping.org / Coupon Sherpa starting in 2008 as a mid-December online shopping push - often listed around December 14 - to finish holiday orders with waived shipping. Central FreeShippingDay.com-style coordination ended around 2018. After that, treat the day as a floating / retailer-set mid-December shopping window. A live CMS line of December 14 is a traditional listing, not a statute. Do not treat December 18 as the Free Shipping gospel date.
Same week as Green Monday - different job. In 2026, the traditional Free Shipping Day listing often sits near Green Monday (Monday, December 14) - the second Monday in December. Green Monday is an online shopping marker; Free Shipping Day is a shipping-promo brand that is now retailer-set. Neither is Super Saturday (Saturday, December 19), and neither invents doorbusters on this site. This page does not freeze Dec 14 as the only possible 2026 date without rule language, invent 2026 retailer deal lists or “guaranteed by Christmas” claims, or invent federal status.
