National Caramel Apple Day
Dip an apple on National Caramel Apple Day! October 31 puts caramel-coated apples on the same date many households already associate with fall candy — a tart apple on a stick, wrapped in soft caramel, sometimes rolled in nuts.
How to celebrate
Melt caramels with a splash of cream or water and dip crisp apples (Granny Smith is a favorite for tartness). Set them on parchment to firm. Roll in peanuts or toffee bits if you like. Buy from a fair or candy shop that dips fresh. Keep caramel away from very young children as a choking hazard; cut apples for little kids.
