Super Saturday 2026

Super Saturday 2026 is Saturday, December 19. Christmas Day is Friday, December 25, so this is the last Saturday before it. Stores are packed. Online, you are mostly looking at items that still show delivery by December 23–24, or digital cards.
If the gift has to be under the tree, this is a pickup-and-wrap day, not a “browse 40 tabs” day.

When it is
Super Saturday is a retail nickname for the last Saturday before Christmas. In 2026 Christmas is a Friday, so the Saturday before is December 19.
It is not a public holiday. Banks are open. Malls will not feel like they are.
What to expect
- In-store: the remaining sizes, the remaining toys, long lines at gift wrap.
- Online: overnight or two-day only. If the page will not promise a date, believe it.
- Gift cards behind the counter and on email. Not glamorous. Effective.
- Returns in January. Keep the receipt in the box.
Local shops still deserve the walk-in traffic. If you can finish the list downtown, do that. Amazon is for the leftover SKU you already know, with a date on the page.
How to shop it
- Split the list: must-wrap vs can-be-a-card.
- Call the store or check pickup before you drive.
- For Amazon, filter on delivery date, not on “best seller.”
- Do not buy a third-party marketplace item with no holiday cutoff.
- Buy wrapping paper and tape first so you are not doing that at 9 p.m.
What to buy (Amazon picks)

- Is Super Saturday a real holiday?
- It is a nickname the National Retail Federation and newsrooms use for the last Saturday before Christmas. No day off.
- Should I still order a big appliance?
- Not unless pickup is confirmed. December 19 is a gift-and-wrap problem, not a refrigerator problem.
- What if nothing will arrive?
- A card plus a specific promise (“the Lego set is ordered, here is the picture”) is cleaner than a lie about a truck.
Short history
Retailers and the NRF have used “Super Saturday” for years as shorthand for the last big in-store push before Christmas. Online has eaten some of that traffic, but the Saturday still shows up in sales reports because people who waited this long often want the thing in their hands.
