International Day of the Girl Child 2026

The International Day of the Girl Child is a United Nations observance marked on October 11. In 2026 it falls on Sunday, October 11. The UN General Assembly created it in resolution A/RES/66/170 (19 December 2011); the first observance was 11 October 2012. It focuses on girls’ rights — education, health, safety, and freedom from child marriage — and is not a U.S. federal holiday. 4. Run a classroom lesson on rights (education, health, safety) — not only a poster craft.
5. Donate time or money locally to organizations girls actually use — libraries, sports, tutoring, health access — not a party.
