History & origins
National Day Calendar created National Play Day in 2024 to be observed each year on July 19. The registry describes the day as encouraging people of all ages to spark creativity, reconnect with playfulness, and treat play as part of a happy life. The day is informal. It is not a U.S. federal holiday and does not require an act of Congress.
