A short, defendable timeline
Human-horse partnership. Horses have long roles in U.S. work, transport, sport, and companionship. Keep that high-level - this is appreciation and welfare framing, not a breed encyclopedia. The U.S. Senate’s S.Res.452 recognized December 13, 2004 as “National Day of the Horse.” Calendars keep the December 13 listing as an informal annual observance. That history does not create a permanent federal paid holiday or nationwide day off.
Welfare over purchase pressure. Mark the day with learning and responsible visiting, not impulse buying. Reputable stables, museums, and rescues can share accurate care basics. This page does not claim permanent federal holiday status from a 2004 resolution, merge with World Horse Day (July 11) or National Miniature Horse Day, use impulse-purchase framing, or publish unsourced anatomy trivia.
How to mark National Horse Day
